[DEFECT]
Brand Design, Editorial Design
The [DEFECT] project is a bold exploration of culture jamming and punk aesthetics, brought to life through a magazine and its distinct visual identity. Rooted in mixed media styles, the brand features a
raw, DIY-inspired look with assets like black tape swatches, rough
illustrations, and urban decay textures.
The magazine tackles modern societal issues with a rebellious tone,
using subversive imagery and provocative content to challenge mainstream narratives. From its striking covers to its engaging articles, [DEFECT] is designed to disrupt and inspire, while the brand identity
—including its logo, typography, and dynamic applications—creates
a cohesive yet gritty presence across physical and digital platforms. Together, the magazine and its identity serve as a unified voice for creative resistance and critical thought.
The covers of [DEFECT] reflect its rebellious ethos through bold black tape censorship, provocative distorted imagery, and raw, analog textures. Hand-rendered typography and muted photo treatments, paired with striking brand colours, create a chaotic yet deliberate aesthetic.
